The goal of the game
You beat the dealer by getting closer to 21 without going over. Cards 2 to 10 count at face value, face cards are 10 and aces are 1 or 11.
What basic strategy does
It tells you when to hit, stand, double or split based on your hand and the dealer’s upcard. Used correctly, it can bring the house edge to around 0.5% at many tables.
Learn it gradually
Use a free strategy chart and practise in a demo game. Keep in mind that strategy reduces the edge but cannot remove it.
